There are a lot of variables that you haven't mentioned. What size will the joists, girders, posts, and ledger be? What snow load and wind load will the deck have to meet? what size footings will be required under the posts? What materials will the deck be made of? Will this deck require railings? If so, do you want the railing to be supported by posts, or just attached to the rim joist of the deck?

Your best bet may be to go to a lumber yard or home center in your area that offers computer designed assistance for projects like this. They know your local bldg. code requirements and can factor them into the design.

I could tell you how I would build a deck to install in MY back yard, but if I went 30 miles in any direction, that design would either be too weak to meet code, or it would be overkill.
