Joists on both sides of a beam
I started my deck this weekend and have been trying to follow code as mush as possible.
I just noticed that you are not allowed to hang joists from both sides of a beam.
My deck is 15 x 30 and had has 4 beams. Each is 15 foot long and they are spaced at 0, 10, 20, & 30 feet. The beams at 0 & 30 are 2 - 2x8's. The beams at 10 & 20 are 3-2x8's. Each beam has a 6x6 post every 5 feet.
I had planned to begin hanging joist tomorrow. The 2 triple ply beams were to have joist hangers on each side. What are my options to safely hang joists off those middle beams?

I believe you are referring to section 6 regarding joist to beam attachment, where it says " Joists shall not frame in from opposite sides of the same beam." That does not indicate you can not use joist hangers on double and triple beams. They are referring to framing in the joists, as in cutting or notching the beam and placing the joist in the notch. Get clarification from your inspector as well, since they rule. I've never seen a deck with your layout where joist hangers were NOT on each side of the beams.
