Solid Surface Deck Finish

I plan to resurfase an existing deck with plywood, making it a solid surface. This will give the deck a more formal appearance and keep the patio below dry.
I've looked at elastomeric materials like Spantex that seal and provide a watertite barrier, but they are quite expensive.
Any alternatives to this??

You could put fiberglass clothe and resin over the entire surface. Not sure how that would compare cost wise with Spantex.

Deck Surface

Two problems with that....the cost would be quite high and it would probably be slippery here in the Northwest, without sand or something on the surface...
