Is Cantilever Pergola Safe?

I plan to have a patio installed with a smallish pergola (7'Wx6'D) attached from my house. Will such a small pergola need to have posts installed at all? Not needing posts will allow me the option to make the patio of wood, concrete or pavers. It is the paver solution that makes me want the direct attachment. No weight will be placed on the pergola during use. Is a directly attached pergola practical and safe?

The pic below shows an example of a lightweight decorative pergola I'm thinking of but I would want more slats and would want the wall beam to be bigger and sturdier.

Almost anything can be constructed if you are willing to pay for it. A pergola roof would be simplest and least expensive with posts/legs down to the ground. Depending on your home it could be attached and cantilevered or suspended/supported from above with cables or brackets. Your 6' depth is pretty modest so you will have options that should be somewhat reasonable in price.
