Resurfacing deck - leftover area

Hello,

Apologies for the poor thread title, didn't really know how to briefly describe the issue. I recently resurfaced my deck with 5" wide deck boards - the previous owner had it surfaced with 6" boards. I have completely resurfaced the deck but am now left with about a 2.5"-3" leftover strip of frame to cover. Poor planning, I know. Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to best deal with this? Should I just get a board cut lengthwise to the required width to cover the remaining few inches to the edge?

Any advice would be much appreciated as the end result is great with the exception of this one last eyesore.

Thanks!

Jeff

Welcome to the forums!

It isn't uncommon to have to rip the width of a board to make everything fit correctly. A table saw makes the neatest cut but it can be done with a skil saw.

Or even a radial arm saw, in the rip position.
