Do I need to clean a sanded cedar deck?

I have a 30 year old cedar deck. I power washed it then sanded it right down with 36 then 60 grit. I still notice some areas of darkness (tannins, I imagine) especially where the nails were used (30 years ago I guess they didn't use screws). My question is after all the sanding (probably 8 passes) can I stain or should I clean and condition the wood first? The "water test" shows absorption indicating the wood is ready but I don't want to miss a step at this point. The other thing I'm a bit worried about is the wood getting "frizzy" again from washing it again with the cleaner/brightener.

Thanks

I'd probably sand it again with 100 grit (60 is a little rough to me) and then apply the stain.

What are you planning to use to stain it?

A lot depends on the type of stain you plan to use.
