Question New Deck Already Turning Gray

How long after a new deck is built do I need to wait to apply the waterproofing? Use treated lumber. In south east area. Georgia

3-6 months depending on humidity and sun exposure. All depends on how dry it was to begin with. If it's started greying...a bleach, water, soap solution can be sprayed on and scrubbed if needed then rinsed. You can buy deck brightener pre-mixed...but it's basically the same thing.

Should be able to coat w/in a week after cleaning if no rain.

I agree! 6 weeks to 6 months is a good rule of thumb. It doesn't hurt if the wood turns grey as the bleach water solution will lighten it back up [never ever stronger than 50% or you can damage the wood] Bleach water will also remove any mildew if that becomes an issue. I always wash a new PT deck as part of the prep before staining.
