Exterior Door

I'm replacing an exterior wooden door and the door frame is fine. Since I've bought a prehung door, can I just unscrew the prehung door to replace just the door?

Do the hinges and latch line up?

I'm assuming the size of the door is correct for the opening as well.

Why didn't you just buy a door slab if you aren't going to replace the jamb?
The new door may or may not be a direct fit as the hinges would need to be in the exact same place .... and I'd bet they aren't the latch side could be off slightly too.

The answer is an absolute...maybe. It's more likely with newer interior doors...but sometimes possible with exterior.

You'll need to check hinge positions, screw patterns, depth, etc...as well as the actual door dimensions. Only way to know is to give it a try...

About a 1% chance that ideas going to work.
Far faster and easier to just replace the whole thing.

It won't fit as well as you would like it, if it fits at all. Install the whole new unit, frame and all. You'll be glad you did.
