Deck/Platform Over Plywood

Hello,

I have a covered deck which is also over my carport that is currently plywood and carpeted. If I wanted to build a wood deck/platform out of cedar or lumber over this how would I go about this? Do I just attach some cross pieces to the plywood and then use 5/4" decking to finish or is there a better/proper way?

I have about 1 3/4" to work with, can go higher if needed but do not want to.

Welcome to the forums! Your best bet would be to remove the carpeting and possibly the plywood to allow you to gain enough room to install decking to maintain the same height. Posting pictures of what you have from inside and outside would help us understand your project better. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
