Downstairs neighbor apartment flooding from my deck when it rains

Hello,

I have a second floor apartment, whenever it rains, water somehow comes from my deck or entry door into my neighbor's bathroom. The entry door got flashing as did the wall under my deck. The wood siding is pretty much shot. Sorry i don't have pics since I am at the library now, will take pics with my phone tomorrow. Thank you for any input.

Not even sure what the question is and also why do you care? It's an apartment, right? It's a problem for the owners.

owner doesn't exactly believe in maintenance, the neighbor and i are rather good friends, be nice to find a way to keep the water from going into their bathroom

Well, all depends on where. Is it right at the outside wall? Then it's probably a siding issue.

If it's further in, then it may be from sort of penetration not related to your place.

Maybe the pic's will tell more of the story.

Still say it's the landlords issue, may even be grounds for a complaint to the local office that regulates things. Continued water intrusion can create mold and other health issues.

If you have a deck then more than likely you have a ledger board attached to the house to hold the deck up. That is what is probably leaking. That's not a repair you want to get involved in.

If you're renting, you just can't take something like this on.

Have your friend keep hounding the landlord.

sorry, tried uploading pics from the mobile site, no option given, not sure how to transfer pics from my phone to a desktop. The water goes through the wall and onto the bathroom wall.

Email the pictures to yourself or download them, then resize them to about 640x1080 and use the link.
