What to seal this gap with?

I was washing my small porch area yesterday when I noticed a small amount of water dripping into the basement a shortly after. There is a noticeable gap and I was thinking of just using caulking. Should I use something else?

Knowing a leak can start from anywhere, I would start by removing all the residual caulk and applying an elastomeric caulk. It will expand and contract with weather variations.

I cringe when I see concrete up against wood like that, odds are it will be a problem in the not too distant future. Once the water gets past the point we are looking at, is it going over the top of the foundation or through a crack. If it is going over the top, then that patio/sidewalk is just too high.

Caulk as Chandler suggests, but be considering future options.
