Composite railing cap

Please see attached images. Our main deck is supported by 6x6 posts and is built out of pressure treated wood. I elected to replace the 10 year old 2by6 pressure treated railing on this deck with Trex 2by6 boards. The railing extends between the 6 inch posts so was easy to simply remove old 2by6 and install new composite as shown. However, at edge of deck, I used 4by4 posts for stairs but the same 2by6 railing (posts are centered and we cut the 2by6 pressure treated railing cap at time of install of posts) . When I install the composite board between posts, I have visible unfinished ends as I can't cut out the posts and slide railing over, and don't want to notch one side. I was thinking of blocking the 4by4 to create a 6by6 to essentially allow the railing to lie in place like rest of deck. What is best way to do this?

The above pic shows 2by6 composite fitting niceley between 6by6 posts, ie rough edges hidden.

As I round the corner, I switch to 4by4 posts which I cannot take down and slide railing around post, so I was thinking of creating a flase 6by6 look..??

I see a couple of solutions. Cut a 2x4 about 12" long and taper it on both ends so when you apply it centered across the plane of the handrail it will more or less blend in. Another, less "pretty" approach would be to take your handrail material and rip it from the edge the width to make it jump the gap to the next handrail, nailing it into the 4x4 with HDG finish nails.

I don't understand the 12 inch 2by4 tapered both ends application. Do you mean on each side of post?

I was thinking of a 5/4 deck board up full height of 4by4 post on sides to make it 6 inches, or notching the composite rail and just screwing in composite bits

Yeah, but I meant 1x4, not 2x4, sorry. See illustration.
