Question Crack between concrete patio step and patio door, leaks down basement interior w

Hello! I have discovered (by getting a wet basement wall and pile of water) that when it rains there is a crack on my back patio between the concrete step up to the patio door and the door itself. Suggestions on repairs? Total beginner here and wondering if a sealant or something could fix this simply? Thanks for any advice!!
pic is of basement wall. wont let me up load the pic of the step

Use photobucket.com to post the pic of the stoop. What's inside doesn't matter.

Concrete does not form a continuous barrier to water, and it needs control (expansion) joints. I would imagine that the area you are referring to should have an expansion joint and some sealant.

Actually, we could use a wide angled pic. Step back & take a pic of the entire stoop.

I think that you can easily seal that step. Chop out whatever is loose. The space between the step & the door can be sealed with an exterior caulking. Unfortunately, I don't remember the product that Stadry recommended in previous posts. A mortar mix can be used to seal the rest of the step. I use a Type S mortar mix, with a bonding agent.

Stadry, concretemasonry or bridgman45 may have other suggestions.
