Deck stair angle - baluster connectors
I am rebuilding a deck and am about to start on the stairs from the upper deck down to the lower deck. I am using a 3/4" round aluminum baluster. I had planned on using Dekorator's angled baluster connectors but I've noticed that they supposedly only work with stair angles between 30 and 35 degrees. Due to the location of the two decks and my rise/run requirements, I've ended up with a stair angle of around 39-40 degrees. Does anyone have a good way to fasten the balusters to the to and bottom rail assuming the connectors won't work? Do you know of any other connector out there that would work with that angle?

Welcome to the forums.
I would likely just have a 2x piece of wood on the top and bottom with holes drilled to accept the balusters.

If your stairs are that steep they probably don't meet code... either the rise is too high or the tread is too narrow. But I understand it probably is what it is. You should be able to follow these tips and use the decorator connectors. Tips for Installing Aluminum Balusters - Professional Deck Builder Magazine

Thanks for the link. I had read through that before. The angle is coming from the fact that I am using a 9" tread (min. Code here). I submitted my plans to the building inspector and the resulting angle of the stairs was in there and they didn't say anything and approved it so I am assuming it is ok. I used a 9" tread because I don't want the stairs to spill onto the lower deck too far, but given the angle and potential extra baluster work, maybe I should calculate it with a larger tread length to lower the angle (and allow ,e to use the connectors).

Just off the top of my head, your rise is more than 8" - that's not to code. Correct me if I'm wrong.
