Deck help

I had a patio poured and now need to build my deck. I consulted a contractor friend of mine on the proper way to do it. He told me to dig the holes for the deck posts and have them filled in with concrete as part of the patio. So that's what I did. I Dug 48" holes with 10" diameter. The patio was poured and the wholes were poured as part of the patio. Now to build the 8x4 deck. It's just to get from my 2nd story patio door. 69.5 " off my patio. He said we can just bracket the posts to these concrete patio with the concrete piers below.

Is this ok to do?

Welcome to the forums!

Were the post brackets set in the wet concrete or have they not been installed yet?

While I've built a few decks, as a painter I've mostly stained them. I've always set the post base/tie down in wet concrete. There is a type that I assume screw into the concrete but I don't know much about them. Hopefully one of the carpenters will chime in later.
