Looking for ideas for exterior wall attachment

I need ideas for attaching the ends of two 4x6s to the exterior of my house. They will be 12' apart so there will be two attachments. I'll be using lag screws into the house framing, but the ends of the 4x6s do not line up near the house framing members so I can't just bolt them in with angles. There is no vertical (gravity) load on this, and the maximum lateral load is small, maybe 300 lbs or so.

I thought of something like a short ledger (maybe a 2x8, 24" long) but that is larger and more conspicuous than I'd like to have. I'd like to do something smaller, and as aesthetic (nice looking) as possible.

The first thing that comes to my mind is a flat plate of steel, painted black. I could thread some 1/2" holes and just bolt on the 4x6 with angles like maybe the Simpson HL33.

Ideas?

You could look into getting a couple Maine Deck Brackets.

Much easier to make suggestions if we know what it is your trying to achieve and a picture.
