Anchor post bases with tapcons or ramsets

I'm building a pergola on an existing patio. To anchor the metal post bases to the concrete, do I need to drill and screw, or can I use a powder actuated nailer?

I wouldn't use either, but rather concrete wedge anchors, often called red-heads. Even then I'd be worried about wind loads on the pergola...how big is it and do you live in a windy area?

I agree.... a drop in wedge anchor. Drill a 1/2" hole, drop it in, tighten it up.
