Building a removable handrail/fence?

I'm trying to build a home theatre riser and it has two layers/levels. The total height is about 20.5 inch tall. I'd would not prefer to have a handrail/fence since it'll only be 20.5" tall; however, I believed building codes suggest I have to some build some type of fence on the right side so people/kids will not fall off the riser in the dark. However, I want to make it a removable fence/handrail because I want to be able to haul sofas, couches, and other big furniture and stuff into the room. The room in the right side of this home theatre room is my storage room and it has a tone of stuff in there that I need to be able to take stuff in and out. Therefore, the fence/handrail needs to be easily removed or take it down. So, I need some suggestions or ideas how I might be able to accomplish this. Underneath the OSB is 2 by 10 joist running all the way to the back wall. I was hoping to make the fence/handrail fasten to this joist so that it's stronger but again, I need it easily be removed if when needed. Any help is much appreciated.

 

This place has nice floor sockets and removable posts, and you can even get velvet ropes for that official theatre experience. Bit pricy.

Thanks, CaribdeTipped. That is an awesome idea. I'm just not sure if that will suffice the building codes but using ropes.

 

Does anyone know a way to secure the post to the floor/osb but can be remove? I was thinking about using a 1/2" inch on the osb and then use a hanger bolt to secure the post to the osb through the tee nut. However, I kept thinking there must be some other way to secure it better.

 

These are pricey, but they would give you a very solid connection that could be removed when you need to (although it would take a few minutes....)

Does anyone where I can purchase a 1/2 inch diameter and at least 1" barrel length tee nuts? I also a 4" hanger bolts to go along with this tee nuts. I cannot seem to find them online. I've tried Amazon but they mostly carry 3/8" only. I prefer the tee nuts to have at least two to four holes if possible so I can screen it into the OSB. I'd appreciated if you can link me to an online place to purchase them. Thank you!

The inserts go into the joist. Use bolts and washers screwed into the inserts to fasten the vertical railing members to the joist.
