Concrete driveway expansion joints

Hello. I have a textured beige color painted concrete driveway. The wooden expansion joints were rotting and ugly so I pried them up and removed them, and replaced them with flexible PVC expansion joints ("Trim A Slab" to be exact). I then repainted the concrete and all looks good. However, the new expansion joints collect tire marks and dirt quickly while the concrete stays clean. I tried using a latex primer on the joints before the paint, but that didn't help. What can I do? Perhaps a clear sealant on top? Polyurethane? Thanks!

What's the reason for the paint? As I said in another post, concrete has to breathe.
