Best lighting option for outside stairway??

Hey guys, I can use some advice here please. If you can look at this pic of our outside stairway leading to the 2nd floor:

https://s1.postimg.org/88b87fxwjj/stairs2.png

There is a sensor light under the awning at the top of the stairs but when you are at the bottom of the stairs the sensor light doesn't come on and we need better lighting for the entire stairs. Friend of mine is saying to put another sensor either between the 2 windows.or somewhere under it where the sensor will pick up anyone approaching the 1st stair at the bottom.

The 1 and 2 red arrows show dummy light sockets which were already there when we had purchased this house. At the 3rd arrow under the stairs is an electrical outlet and I am thinking why not run electrical wiring inside a conduit pipe to those 2 dummy sockets from the outlet and at night I can leave 2 soft glow lights on over the stairs.

Other option I am thinking is to put like 3 solar lights on the wall so no electricity needed but since this is the East side of the house and we have some trees at the back, the solar lights will not get much direct sun rays on them?

What do you guys suggest would be the easiest options for this please?

Adding additional sensors can be a pain as you somehow have to get wiring between the two. You mentioned dummy light sockets. Are they dummies or is there power to them? If there is power I would install additional motion lights.

Looks like they had put those 2 sockets there intending on wiring them but never did so no wiring is there. If I would need to install another sensor light I would still need to run conduit pipe and wiring to the existing sensor at the top of the stairs or drill through the wall to get to the nearest wall socket.
