Deck stripped last year - need brightener?

I used a stripper on my deck last summer. I never got around to re-staining/sealing it. Do I need to use a brightener before applying the stain? Or just a cleaner? I am going to use a semi-transparent stain. I'm not sure if the sun/snow/rain would have neutralized the stripper by now.

A lot depends on how it looks ..... and I can't see it from here. I normally don't use a wood brightener as the bleach I use to clean decks pretty much does the same thing. The odds are the deck needs to be cleaned again before you restain.

Cleaner/brighter are probably the same, mostly bleach but if your going to go through all the effort to re-stain you want the cleanest surface available.

For the $20 I'd re-clean.

BTW, I love the Olympic cleaner from Lowes, best of all cleaners I've used over the years!

Okay. Thanks. I have a brightener so I will just use that.
