question about deck stringer fascia size

Greeting.. I'm in the process of building my deck. I am using 2x12 for stringers per code requirement. I'm planning to cut 2x8s for risers. In the end, I plan to add white PVC fascia board to cover the stringers.
What size of PVC trim board to use? For the 2x12 stringer with 2 by riser, the 2x12 PVC is not wide enough to cover them.
Thanks

Are you asking about a stair riser or a piece on the deck like the rim joist?

The Timber Tech fascia material I used on my deck was wide enough for the stair stringers but I dont recall if they were 2x10 or 2x12.

Will check tonight!

thanks for the figure. no, i am not asking about riser. I'm asking about the fascia attached to the outside of the stringer to cover the wood.

The fascia cover on the steps is generally cut to exactly match the 2x12 stringer. The ends of the treads and risers are thus exposed and are usually left long so as to overhang both the stringer and any fascia cover that is added.

Thanks Xsleeper. In your case, what material do you use for riser? I plan to use 2x8 PT lumber as riser and then cover the PT riser with 1/2" PVC board. I can't image a cut-end PT overhang the stringer fascia. I can see that 1/2" PVC overhang the stringer fascia.

I don't know why you would use 2x8 then cover it. Use a pvc 1x8 for your riser.
