I have my ledger installed. Now I have about a 1/2 inch gap between the bottom of the ledger and where the siding begins again from where I removed it. What should I put in there to prevent water damage?

Thanks.

Did you put flashing behind your ledger board, and let it hang down at least 6" below the ledger board? I bet you did not. so if this is true, use a good silicone caulk, and put in on thick and fill the gap. Use the good stuff.

You are correct, I only put Z flashing on top of the ledger that extends about an inch up behind the siding. Also, I put roofing felt ove the exposed header(my builder never put any house wrap over the sheathing). It will be quite a large bead of silicone(1/2 inch), is that OK?

Thanks for the reply.
