Should I prep ground for patio before butting sod ?
Hi ,
We recently bought a house in Winnipeg , Canada . We are planning to have a deck , a patio in addition to sod . Our builder is going to put sod in June or July and I was thinking should I
1. Let the builder put sod on complete lot and then later on excavate the area for patio ?
2. Or should I let them know by marking the ground where patio would be , so that they dont fill that area with top soil and sod
3. Or should I prep the patio base area like putting the gravel and compacting before the builder starts to put sod ?
Your help will be very much appreciated
Thanks

No sense putting down dirt/sod if it's going to be torn out in the near future. Best option would be to get the deck & patio complete so the sod doesn't get torn up with workers, trucks, cement buggies ext.

Agreed. Understand wanting to get the lawn started, especially with a smaller window to operate within, but if it's in the cards I would get the deck and patio in first. Posts, beams, pavers, and the agregate under the pavers are all heavy, and not something I would not want to traffic across new sod. Not to mention having to dig it back out to make space for the amenities.
