ledger board flashing

how do you flash the end of a ledger board on the outside corner with the vinyl siding corner piece?

Does your ledger also go around the corner? If so, you will remove the row of siding immediately above the ledger. You then need to pull the nails out of the vinyl corner so that you can pull it away an inch or two.

Your flashing will be cut at least 1 1/2" long on each side so that one laps over the other on the top of the ledger. (you can miter the one that lays on top of the other.)

Then you use a hand seamer to bend a 90 degree angle on the vertical leg (the one that goes on the wall behind the vinyl corner) so that it laps over the other one.

And seal the seam with sealant as you lap one on piece of flashing top of the other. That goes for any flashing lap joints anywhere.

And your flashing obviously needs to be behind your WRB so that any water that gets behind the siding and on the WRB will not run down the wall and get behind the flashing.
