Right Bolt for 4"x4" saddle in Sono Tube
So I am building a small stair landing and I am attempting to bolt up my 4x4s on the steel saddles on top of my sono tubes.
Not giving it enough thought I bought a couple of 1/2" carriage bolts to go through the saddle holes and the wood. Well carriage bolts have those little squares on their flat head, that prevent the head from sitting flat on the saddle. The square part does not go through the round hole.
Anyway, does anyone know the correct bolt to bolt the 4x4s to the saddles.

If the saddle metal is thin and the square part starts into the hole...... tightening the bolt will draw the head in. Otherwise you'll need to measure what length galvanized 1/2" bolts you need. Probably 1/2"x4" or 1/2"x4-1/2"
