Cottage improvements

Hey guys I am hoping you folks can help me out. My wife and I want to hide these poles with some sort of decorative wood box around each pole, removing the old hand rail and replace with thick 1 1/2 inch braided rope to feed through as our new railing 1. Poles are a little \"wobbly" 2. Runs down a slight hill about 50 FT

I would remove rail and posts. Install wood posts with hole near the top of each post large enough to allow the rope to pass through. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your project.

I doubt any decorative box will do much to fix the wobble. I agree it would be best to remove the posts/rail and install ones you like - set securely in the ground.

Beautiful space....Remove what is there and start from scratch. In this case retrofit will do nothing but give you headaches. Do it right the first time and you don't have to redo down the road. Check into local code so that the rope is at the appropriate height.
