T Tie Connectors: How to drill accurate holes for bolts?

Planning a pergola project, with a large beam sitting atop two posts. Wanting to use large flat t braces/ties (example attached) to connect them, but I want to put them on either side of the post-beam connection. I know that bolts are the way to go with this, but I can't figure out what the best way is to drill for them. Not much room for error whatsoever - even being off a fraction of an inch, the bolt wouldn't line up with the opposite t brace.

Any suggestions on how to do this? I've looked online but can't find anything.

I would clamp the brackets on each side where you want them. Then drill half way through from each side paying careful attention to hold your drill perpendicular to the bracket. You'll likely be at least a bit off but you should be able to get pretty close. You may need to wallow the bit around a bit in the center of the post to get the two holes to aline enough to pound a bolt through. Using the brackets as a drill guide will prevent the outer portion of the hole from being wallowed out so you will still get good strength.
