I was wondering what type of stair width was popular with homeowners. I'm building a 13.5'x22.5 deck out of cedar with angled corners and diagonal decking. I don't want my stairs looking "cheap" after investing so much in my deck. I was thinking of having a step-down platform off of the deck and then taking the stairs off of that parallel to the deck. I was thinking I would place my post (6x6s) 4' O.C. By the way the deck level is 6'. Any advice would be appreciated.

Most stair widths are in the 36" to 48" range. Generally it is determined by the asthetics of the deck and the wants and needs of the owner of the deck.
