Front veranda
Hi I’m replacing an existing veranda on the front of my house but I want to make it come out 1 or 2’ farther than the old one. That means the extra 1 or 2’ would extend past the existing roof. Would this be ok estetically or look weird? Can’t seem to find pics of anything similar on the net. Wife thinks it won’t look right but it would give us a bit more room. Old veranda was 19’ x 6’ so new one 19’ x 7’ or 8’.

We don't know if you live in Cinderella's castle, an arts & crafts bungalow or a salt box. So, we really can't answer without some pictures of your home to judge how making the veranda deeper would look. I personally am a fan of large overhangs and deep porches. If you do make the change I wouldn't bother tearing anything down just to add one foot. Two feet might be my minimum consideration.

Too late old one is down already. Here’s a pic of the front of my house.

As you can see I can’t make the roof come out further(it comes out 6’4”) but I would like to extend the deck out 7-8’. Just don’t want it to look out of proportion.

The bay window bump-out and the "roof" detail along the side make it look more like an overhang than a roof. I think an extended porch (deck) would look OK. If you imagine the timbers along the wall extended across the front you can envision how it would look. If it is close enough to the ground (24 inches?, check code and insurance) to not need a railing will minimize its appearance, but even with a railing in a style appropriate to the architecture it should look OK.
