What size joist is needed for a small deck
I wanna build a 8x8 deck with stairs off my front entrance door, will 2x6 joists on 16" centers be sufficient or should I use 2x8s..

Your ledger must be 2x8 if it is going to be a deck with a ledger. For that span you "can" use 2x6 for your joists but IMO if you plan to bolt the handrail/guardrail to the joists/rim you would be better off using a minimum of 2x8 throughout.
