If you want to build some short term privacy ,about 15ft wide ,,where a huge huge 40yr maple tree is near what is the best method to use for supporting it ? I made some 5 ft by 8 ft dogear panels -3 .
I dont want to even think of the huge extremes of roots there..It wont be up in 2 years so I dont need it long term. Just looking for some ideas for what can work for a few years..to support them
Most builds are long term, permanent with concrete , ,or for a client ,etc....but this wont be..I just want temporary privacy .
I have a deck on other side of area so i can use the 4by4s from there for some stability. An the tree some..
Again just looking for some ideas for temporary support
Steel rebar? those 4by4 supports you pound in ...the 12 inch concrete platforms with 4by4 supports in middle , , other options?
Can you post a couple of pics of the area, etc? I'm thinking if the ground is fairly level and high winds are not a factor, you could build a framework for the boards and put "feet" on the frame, like a portable office divider only bigger and made of wood.
I also was looking at the steel stakes or spikes by the rebar ,the ones with a point an holes all thru it..an pound that thru the root an run a bolt over top hole in it ..an a few of them on both sides of a 2 by 10 i made the support with...
Im gonna try to see on the farthest end if i can even get a hole going deep enough for a 2by 4 as support but not expecting to go far.
an in 2 years i wont want it there anymore...
i can put concrete block on the platform too with the spikes an brace it to deck 4by4s.
Just want the best easiest options that will hold it pretty well for the few years it will be up.
Thanks
.....
the blue is area the platform would go an is flat area but EXTREME maple tree roots.
Other deck pic shows the 4by4s at deck corner..
Thanks

I got the support platforms built ..It actually weighs a LOT i made 2 sections with a T end
After it rains im gonna put it directly on ground an pound the stakes in an sister platform to deck 4by4 .
i put holes across the side beams, an after i slip fence panels in with a 2by 8 along bottom of panel, ill drill holes thru it an bolt thru to other side of 2by8.
Does that sound pretty sturdy.?.An would putting the cinderblocks i alread have on the 2by 12 be a good idea also or will sistering it to the deck 4by4 work well enough?
i will join the 2 platforms after down ,with another sister board an the support piece.
i have a few quarter size holes in 2by12 for stakes an a bolt thru the hole in top of stake into wood.
I have some sections of my concrete pool deck where the coping is eroding or has chunks missing because of the water eroding it.
Is it best to use a concrete epoxy for this or a hydraulic stop cement, or maybe just some regular concrete patch.
The sections I want to repair are on the vertical side of the deck and that is why I was thinking of a non sag epoxy.
Any help is appreciated.Read More
Just near completion of my deck being built and noticed this cracking on the posts and small ones stemming off… I know it’s called checking but let me know if I should be concerned and have him replace them plz as I’m sure if I request it, it would be an issue but I want to ensure there is no problems in the near future. Any comment is a good comment, thx
