Concerns about very heavy usage

I will soon attempt my first deck project, and I wanted to ask some advice from some experienced deck builders. I have read a few online deck guides, but none of them say anything about building a deck for very heavy usage. My deck will be appx 40' x 20' and 16" high. I would just like to know if there are any special precautions one should take if their deck is going to be very high traffic and will be required to support a MUCH higher than average number of people.

Call your inspector, but you should still be fine. The codes are designed to support any load you may encounter over the life of the deck. That being said, I'd still err on the side of caution and but my supports, beams, and joists closer together, or else just bump up the joist and beam sizes.
