I am getting ready to build a deck to my back door. I am building it on a slab of concrete. How do I anchor the posts to the concrete and do I need to attach the deck to the house? If so, How? the deck will be about 6'X6'.

Here is a brief article from Reader's Digest "The Family Handyman" magazine on properly attaching a deck:
You can attach it to the house, or just build it sitting on the slab.
How high will it be?

Kirby52, from what I see on the site that Mike posted, it does a great job of telling you how to attach the ledger properly to the house, select the right joists, etc.

You bring up a point that this web page doesn't cover. To attach the posts to the slab, I suggest that you a stand-off post base, like a Simpson AB44 (ABA44, ABE44, etc.) The metal base is attached to the slab; the post sits in it and is kept an inch off of the concrete. Go to any lumberyard or big box store and look at their selection of bases and hangers, or at their catalog. whatever you do, you don't want the wood sitting directly on the concrete. It will rot -- RAPIDLY!!
