Question need beam opinion

What's the best way to construct a 20' wide beam to support 18' 2x10 joists with a 2' cantilever (about 4' off the ground)

1) use 6x6's and butt join horizontal beams on top of 6x6 posts

2) use 6x6 posts, but notch them to 'let-in' (2) 20' long 2x12's bolted thru the post.

Here is the reply you don't want to hear.. Use two beams, one at 8', the other at 16' and four posts per beam. Now you can use 2X8s for the joists, 2X10s for the beam and 4X4s for the posts with the beam sitting on top of the posts. If you are not decking diagonaly, you can put the joists at 16".

I am in the process of building a 26' wide by 16' deep deck and my carpenter helper and the people on this board have convinced me to go with two beams rather than one. The reason is bounce. With a 14 or 16' joist span, you're going to have it. It's killing me to put in the extra beam (the five additional holes are putting me back a whole week), but the result wiil be a super sturdy deck.
