Congrats on having the courage to go with a strong color like cobalt!
To keep a tied-together room look - aim for a 60-30-10 color scheme: 60% of your room a base color, 30% in a coordinating color, (one of these should be a neutral, such as grey or beigy tones) and 10% of a bright or contrasting color to provide the "punch" that avoids boredom and sameness. If your sofa is solid, look for a pattern (floral, stripes, plaids, etc.) that picks up 2 or all 3 of your colors.
Next step - look at a color wheel and draw some lines (fat and skinny Y-shapes) with one point at your blue - to get your accent colors - yellows, greens, reds, pinks and oranges would all look great with this blue, depending on what else is in the room. If you have an armcover, or can pull up a whole cushion off the sofa, take it with you when you shop for other accessories.
Good luck!
