Double Duty 16 x 20 room

My quest is to find ideas for seperating or decorating the Living Room that has ALL kitchen appliances and cabinets on the 16 ft wall....and very little counter top as the stove, sink, and fridge are all there....there is cabinets above those where allowed....and within 2 ft of each end there's an open doorway (one to laundry room and the other goes to a foyer area then into the bedroom). I would really like to have either an island (if it were tall enough electrical could be dropped from ceiling, otherwise no power and it has a concrete floor). Please advise.......thanks

Kitchen Island on Concrete Floor

The standard kitchen cabinet height is 34" on which you place the countertop. I have seen some beautiful islands that had columns on them between the counter and ceiling. Wiring could be run through the columns. You might want to pick up a copy of Kitchen Design magazine and some others in search of island ideas with columns. You might also want to consult with a local kitchen designer.
