I have a floral rattan couch in the playroom of our lake house. I want to do a 'nautical" theme. Can I paint this upholstery with a navy paint. Will it crack? I don't care if it is stiff maybe it will feel like canvas?!?I don't want to get it redone because we are remodeling the whole house and this is a low priority. Thanks...

Cool

I think you can paint it if you use the fabric medium...its a liquid taht you put into the paint in equal parts, mix it up and THEN apply the paint..it helps to make the paint less "breakable"...try it on a piece of cloth first so you can see the effect.

I saw this done on an episode of "Decorating Cents" on HGTV. They painted a velvet couch using a fabric medium that they added to their paint. They said you could get it at an Arts & Crafts Store, like the Michaels Arts & Crafts Store we have in my town, I guess. They said on this episode that the medium used would keep the fabric from becoming stiff.
