room division advice

i have two rooms (a living room and an office/studio) that join at a large door frame (double size). i'd like to partition off the two rooms so that i can ease the work of my airconditioner, and eventually my heater. whatever i choose though, will need to be moveable to some degree as it will be in the doorway.

the office is very 50s and the living room is minimal 50s/60s scandinavian design.

any suggestions?

oh, and there are already two hooks on either side of the inside top door frame.

what kind of hooks? i'm not sure 2 hooks will help with anything movable.

i was thinking of a curtain hung from either a wire pulled really taut or a metal rod (or even a pipe). and for ease of sliding, and for a really clean look, doing grommets at the top of really simple panels. you'll have to use fabric that looks good from both sides - you may even just want to use 2 panels back-to-back.

I tend to agree with Annette. I am doing a similar thing in my master bedroom/efficiency apt type room.

If there are already hooks in the wall, then you wouldn't have to worry about removing them when you move, since they're already there.

This would be a fairly inexpensive fix to your situation.

Good luck! I'll need it too.
