i have a unique situation.. my landlord has agreed to let me paint & decorate my apartment, BUT i'm not allowed to touch the trim. It's all solid oak, a little darker than honey oak stain; nice, but it's everywhere!! all the doors, jambs, casings, and chunky 4" baseboards on all the walls...in every room.. is there anything i can do to tone it down a bit? i tend to gravitate towards cooler colors, but wood warms the space up, right? help! :confused:

I need advice on painting a master bath. I want to paint it a neutral color, or 2 neautral colors, a carmel, brownish or mocha, with a lighter tan, beige, etc. Paint colors in the same block. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to paint it 2 colors or just go with one. It receives plenty of light during the day because there's a big glass block window facing the west, northwest. So that's why I was wanting to paint 1 or 2 walls the dark color, as one of the side walls receives most of the light. This is the wall that is in back of the tub as the window is on the side/beside the tub. And perhaps paint the wall facing the window dark also, where the vanities are. Another words you're facing the window/tub, so paint the left wall dark and the wall behind you above the mirror and vanity. The other walls will be the lighter shade. Also, the commode area is between the vanity and tub, so there's an entrance, yet no door, to this semi private area. So I was wondering if I should paint this small area the lighter shade to keep it open, or also paint that back wall the darker shade as to match the whole back wall as you are facing it? Thoroughly confused yet????
