Ceiling and trim color

1. If my trim is a "craft white" (bungalow gold walls), should the ceiling be the same off-color of white? I don't have anything else that is a "true white", so I'm just wondering if I should stick with the craft white there too or go with the traditional true-white ceiling.

2. Also, should the molding around my kitchen cabinets match the floor...or the match the cabinet finish?

thanks!

1. if the creamy color won't seem dingy on the ceiling, feel free to use it on the ceilings if you think Ceiling White will be too white.

2. WHAT moulding? crown moulding at the top, or at the base somewhere? and do you have wood floors or something else?

The floors are brazilian cherry...rich and dark. The cabinets are maple. I was asking about the base molding, probably 1/4 round, to cover the floor gap (laminate) at the base of the cabinets. Should it be maple to match the cabinets or brazilian cherry from the floor?

Also, my concern with the ceiling and molding color was that the molding near the ceiling not be a creamy white bordering a white-white. You know? Wouldn't it be tacky to have those two whites bordering each other? Maybe I'm wrong....I'm much better with a hammer and screwdriver than interior decorating

i think the quarter round should match the cabinets. either way would probably work though. but i'd want it to seem like it was trim on the cabinetry, more so than floor trim, know what i mean?

will you be using quarter round up against white baseboard trim? if so, THAT quarter round should be white like the baseboards.

but don't use white quarter round up against maple cabinets!! obviously.

as for the ceiling, is the "moulding near the ceiling" crown moulding? if so, i think i'd rather have the same creamy white on the ceiling AND on the trim, versus a white-white ceiling up against creamy trim. so keep the whites all the same. ....is that what you meant, too?

OR, if you have creamy crown moulding, and you want it to stand out more than it will with the same creamy white ceilings, then how about painting the ceiling a lighter shade of the gold wall color?? then the crown will stand out nicely, and your ceiling will still be lighter than the walls, but won't fight with the creamy trim!

Ouch. A new dilemma just reared its head. If I paint the living room ceiling (and kitchen, open layout) creamy white....I'll have to paint every room's ceiling the same...correct? I mean, I don't want the living room to have craft white ceiling then walk down the hall with white-white ceilings.

Before I painted every ceiling in the house (already traditional white), I would probably decide against the creamy white trim and go with a more traditional white. Or I guess I could stick with the creamy white trim/molding against the white-white ceilings throughout the house....which goes back to my original concern with those two variations looking tacky right next to each other.

Well....that's the plan. It isn't painted yet. I would like to start in the next couple of days. I just have to decide what will work for us. We really like the craft white with the bungalow gold and cabin red....just concerned about it against the ceiling if the ceiling is white-white. Rather than paint every ceiling craft white to match the trim, I would likely just change my plan for the trim to just a more traditional white that would blend better with the ceiling.

if you're repainting the whole house (walls), you'll want to repaint all the ceilings first anyway (there's no other time to do it - and it really makes a difference - ceilings get far dirtier than walls!), so i'd go ahead & change the ceilings to the creamier white. it really will look better with the trim.

or...go white-er with the trim. you don't have to settle for blindingly white trim, just maybe a "dove white" will be better than really creamy, with the white ceilings.
