Help choosing wall color...

I need a new paint job on my bedroom walls... Right now I have a mauve color on them and I'm sick to death of it, never really liked it to begin with and I'm ready for a change... Problem is, I don't know a good color to go with... My carpet is a light green, almost like an olive green which I love and don't intend on changing anytime soon... The ceiling is flat white and I have an "African Saffari" theme going on... I'm so afraid of picking another color I won't be happy with, any ideas????? I am so not good at this decorating stuff, lol... Thanx in advance!!!

i'm so glad you're getting rid of that dated mauve!!!

make the decision easy on yourself: pull a color from your bedding! (if you don't have the bedding yet, get it FIRST.) is there a cream/tan/beige/brown color in there? that'd be a nice neutral to go with the green carpet. then the focus turns to your bedding, curtains & furniture.

and, be prepared for the shock - going from mauve walls to a neutral, your first thought will be that it's blah & boring, but it's not. it's better - trust me!

Help...need opinions regarding molding...please.

I have a dilemma. We put new molding/casing/baseboards ( not sure which term to use)around doors,windows,floors in our living room, kitchen, utility room and hallway. This was with the plan that we were putting our house ( built in 1954) up for sale. Because we were selling, we painted the walls in neutral colors ( whites,tans) and the new molding in white.Alas, our plans changed and we are staying here. The problem is that I am not a neutral color gal. We have been painting all of the main rooms ( living room, kitchen, utility room and hallway)in colors that our more "us". My dilemma is this...the white molding is fine with the color of each room except for the hallway. We painted the hallway Behr-Maple Leaf ( it's a deep orangey -red). I would much prefer wood stained trim with it. If I were to change the molding/casing/baseboards from white to stained wood, I would want to do it in at least the main rooms ( living room, kitchen, utility room and hallway ). So, here are my questions:1. Should all of the rooms in the house have the same molding style/color? ( I thought about leaving two bathrooms and three bedrooms with the white trim). 2.Would walls with color along with wood stained trim look strange with white doors? Paint color help

:confused: Hi, I just restained my hardwood floors a red mahagany color, and now my paint color doesn't look right. Here's my set-up: My furniture in the living room is very formal. The sofa and the love seat are a creamy white with tiny pink flowers that are unnoticable unless close. The side chairs are pink. The tables are all a grey marble. All the wood in the furniture is a dark mahogany. The dining room has antique furniture that is a more of a chestnut color with creamy white seats. The drapes in both rooms are pink and all the baseboards are white. There is an opening between the two rooms so both rooms can be seen at the same time. Any suggestions on paint colors? I would like to stay away from anything pink as there is too much in the room already. I would like to make the rooms look larger though, especially the dining room. Thanks for your help!Read More
