BIG furniture vs small room

BIG furniture vs small room
My LR looks ugly! I live in an apartment with an 'open concept' - dining room, livingroom and kitchen. I have a 52" television in one corner of the LR. DH just had to have the tv so he can watch his sports. ugh! I have a 3 seater couch and love seat. All this in a small room with a fireplace to boot? I need to get rid of something here but you and I both know it ain't gonna be the tv! LOL - My question?? Should I get rid of the large sofa or love seat or both? What can I replace them with that wil open up this room and still be comfy? Please help?

since you're there, play around with it. it might just be a matter of rearranging what's there. but if it truly is too much furniture, then it's going to have to be either the sofa or the loveseat. replace one of them with a chair or 2. decide how much seating you NEED, depending on the size of your groups using the room.
and remember that furniture up on legs (without skirts) looks smaller & lighter.

Thank you for your suggestions, Annette, this LR is very small so rearranging is nearly impossible. The sofa faces the tv and the loveseat faces the sofa. LOL - The seating arrangement is not 'conversational friendly' When your seated on the large sofa, you have to either turn your neck or body to have a conversation. The sofa is much to close to the tv and the loveseat is too far away from tv. I'm sure I will need to get rid of one of them but I'm not sure which one to get rid of and like you said, purchase a couple of chairs. Oh yes, both the sofa and loveseat have 'panel style' skirts. So, you've taught me something else about creating more space. There is just myself and my husband, but we do entertain family and friends periodically. Thanks again, Annette!
