Unhappy Just painted, not sure we like it

Hi

Please help. We just painted our living room/dining room two days ago.
Not quite sure if we like it. The color is called rose taupe (a darker mauve)
We ordered new furniture in a lighter plum color with an accent chair of
plums, blues, beige. The pillows will match the chair.

We have Golden Oak molding throughout the house with a blue border print
going around the entire two rooms at the crown. Lighter gray carpet.

The color we painted looks really nice with the blue border....Not sure
if we like the color against some of the moldings.

No curtains hung yet.....(would like some advice on what sytle or color
to get). The furniture is very plain and simple style.

My husband really wants to start over and I do not. I kind of like it.
We always had white walls and I just think it might take some getting used to.

Any help or advice would really be appreciated.

We are stuck

Welcome to the forums

Going from white or off white walls to a lot of color can be a shock at first, it may grow on you.

i'm 100% sure that you're still in shock!

going from white walls to ANYTHING ELSE is a MAJOR change! and after only 2 days, it's too early to decide if you truly like it or not. you don't have curtains up, probably no pictures, etc. no room looks good 1/2 done. you had an idea, keep it going. get it all put together & then decide after living with it a while.

that said - i think i know what your problem is: mauve walls with golden oak trim. but once you get the room put together, you really won't notice it so much. give it some time.....

as for the curtains, it sounds like you've got mostly solid colors going on in there. look for curtains with a pattern - floral, plaid, whatever, but one that is multicolored and will help to tie all these other colors together.
