Lamp cords

I have a long LR/DR combination 30 x 14
The house is on a slab foundation, but I do not want all my furn. up
against the walls. How can I use Lamps. Is there a cordless method?
The flooring is Hardwood, with a large carpet over it in the LR area.

i don't know of any cordless lamps, and you certainly don't want cords under area rugs or the carpet, since that would be a fire hazard. floor outlets would be the answer, if you didn't have a slab foundation.

the only solution i see would be to install recessed lighting and/or an attractive centered overhead light fixture and/or use floor lamps or table lamps on end tables that ARE up against the wall. even with floating your sofa & some other pieces out in the middle of the room, you should be able to place at least one chair up against a wall & use either a floor or table lamp next to it, since the room is only 15 feet wide.

The only cordless method available right now is battery operated.
Scientists ARE working on wireless transmission of energy, but its far from commercial use.
