HELP with color in guest bathroom!

I have yellow tile (50 year old house) in my guest bathroom and since we just did a significant addition to our house my husband and I do not want to invest in new tile in the guest bathroom at this point. With that being said we have a problem. We have no idea what color to paint the walls in the bathroom. I just tried painting it a very pale shade of yellow (maybe one shade lighter than the tile) and we hate it. The previous owner had painted it a blue/gray color and we hated it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! The tile is on the floor and comes about half way up the walls.

 

one shade lighter probably wasn't enough of a contrast. i'd think you'd have to go almost to a buttery cream or even white.

is there a window treatment or shower curtain in the picture? use those fabrics for accent color and pattern.
