My home has natural maple trim as well as a natural maple kitchen. My walls are currently linen white done by the contractor. I have a somewhat open floor plan. I would like to paint my family room, living room, foyer & hall, and kitchen in colors that coordinate, but that are not the same. I have currently painted my dining room SW Livable Green. I want to be sure to choose colors that go well with eachother as well as with the maple trim. My family room has a wall that can be seen from the kitchen. They run together but there is an outside corner by a door that I can stop at, so the kitchen could be a different color than the family room. The family room also shares a common wall with my living room. I am not against two colors meeting in an inside corner. Part of the hallway from the foyer also runs into the family room. My living room has sage green carpet & furniture that is beige, sage, burgundy & rose. My family room has a dark camel sofa & burgundy & beige & sage accent pillows. I need some paint color suggestions? I don't really want to paint any very dark colors even though they would probably look great with the light maple trim.

I have just installed natural-color bamboo floors in a 1-br condo. My boyfriend and I couldn't agree on a color scheme for the walls -- he wanted cool colors and I wanted warm and we both wanted something light to make the room look bigger -- so finally we agreed on a light yellow-green color. (moonraker by sherwin-williams). This looks pretty good with the floors and I think will look nice with our black furniture as well (we have not moved in yet). We chose a wheat color for the dining room, which can be seen from the living room, and lavender for the bedroom. The problem is, my mom started me worrying about whether this yellow-green color would make the people in the room look bad (she says she can't wear this color because it makes her skin look awful and I have similar coloring). What's everyone's experience with this? Can you put a color on your wall that you can't put on your clothes? Also, how could I warm up this color? Would red or orange lamp shades and pillows look okay with this? Finally, I've heard various things regarding the level of gloss to get in the paint. Is higher gloss better? Or is it better to use a flat paint in the living room? Cost is not an issue here, I just want something that looks decent. Thanks!
