lots of wood

i have an open concept home with vaulted ceilings throughout the house. my ceiling are tongue and groove very rustic looking dark knoty pine. I am re doing all my trim in the house and am going with clear pine and i am also redoing the kitchen cupboards in knotty pine. I am looking for some advice on what i should match. I have found a stain that comes pretty close to matching the ceilings, should i do the kitchen cupboards the same as everything or should they be diffrent colours of stain?.

much of that is going to be a matter of taste but I would probably do all my new trim and cupboards the same but find a shade that goes with the existing ceiling but not a near match. It is near impossible to match an old stain based on color and age. Also a nice contrast often goes well with design.

i need more info: do you LIKE the dark wood ceilings? what floorcoverings are you using? is the wood ceiling in the kitchen? what look/style are you wanting to achieve?
