I'm repainting the exterior of an old Victorian home, and need a little guidance with the trim. The house has a large gabled end which has dark stained cedar shingles (almost black). There are two pieces of molded trim outlining the gabled end. The main trim color for the house will be a light sand color, but I'm also throwing in a contrasting red color as an accent. I'd like to paint the trim pieces around the gable two colors (sand and the red). Should the dark color go on the outside (next to the roof), or the inside (next to the dark shingles)? Also, there's a fairly large window in the middle of the gabled end. Any ideas what color it should be? The house will be olive green, with the sand trim, red accents, and dark shingles. Thanks!

First the challenge is finding a color scheme for a theatre room that doesn't render it useless for other activities. The room is pretty much a box 12x12 with a inset closet and door on the south wall, two ~40" windows to the east and north. You enter the room from the south west corner. I thought of starting with an item then building from there. I wanted a night rich darking color for the two windows so I have purchased Navy Blue for the curtains. Of the miscellaneous furniture most people have too much of in their homes. I was planning on putting oak colored book shelves (help with sound dampening) with a futon like wood love seat that is meant to have covers for the cusions. What should I paint the walls so that I don't have a lot of light reflection but it does completely dull out the room. My wife would probably kill me if I created a cave. Other uses this room may be forced to have (house is small): exercise study area den play room guest room The theatre plan (for those interested :coffee: ) a 100" pull down screen will be placed on the north wall near the top of the wall. I thought of covering with a valance to conceal during non-use. Projector is table model and will be placed on a small table in the room when in use, out of the way when not in use. five speakers on platforms at sitting level three in front in arc formation and two behind the seating area.
