Question

We just bought an old cottage. I would like to paint the floors then stencil them rather than lay carpet, linolium, etc. Can someone help me with a simple process to prepare the floor - ours is some kind of wood planks, definately NOT hardwood? What kind of primer should be used. What kind of paint needs to be used to stencil? what kind of sealer needs to be used? Any help would be appreciated.

hello,
I happen to be in the same mode your in, purchasing an older home and wanting to paint the floors too. I have been doing a bit of research myself and found that Benjamin Moore carries a selection of floor and porch paint. Alkyd urethane-reinforced enamel for interior/exterior seems to be the choice to go with. Maybe check also check with your local paint store about these....Good Luck with your painting.
Hope i've helped in your quest!
Russell
